A Backlink is a link back to your website from any other website.SEO link building success totally depends of on the backlinks quality. If you are building high quality links for your website, then it will be fruitful for your SEO ranking.

Now let us learn about the 7 most effective link building strategies that you can adopt to give a boost to your website’s ranking in SERPs. Here you go:
  1. Business Listing: Business listings are the best way to create high quality backlinks for your website. In this method, you need to first create a Google and Bing listing for your business. Then to boost those listings, you create more business listings on 3rd party business listing websites. A business listing usually includes Business name, Address, Website link, Social media links, Contact information etc.
  2. Web 2.0 Submission: In Web 2.0 Submission link building,  we post content on popular web 2.0 websites like Wordpress, Weebly, Tumblr, ScoopIT, Medium etc. This content usually have a link back to our website in the form of anchor text.  In Medium and ScoopIT, we can also use content syndication.
  3. Guest Blogging or Guest Post: A Guest posting or blogging is the process of contributing a post to another blogger's website. There are millions of guest blogging websites that you can approach for posting a guest article on them. Some guest posting website offer free blogging where as some websites charge certain amount for each post in return of a backlink from that guest post to your website.
  4. Private Blog Network or PBN: A PBN or Private Blog Network is a network of blogging websites used to build backlinks. These PBNs are made with an intent to manipulate natural or organic ranking of keyword in search engine result pages. A PBN website and Guest Blog look similar in structure and it is hard to identify the difference. Check this article to understand the difference: What is the Difference Between PBN and Guest Blogging?
  5. Forum Posting: Another effective SEO link building strategy is forum posting or forum link building. In this strategy, you need to create member profiles on various forum websites and thereafter start posting replies in thread/conversation to improve the authority of your profile. After a certain membership reputation level, you will be allowed to post links in your answers and post. In this way you will get high quality backlink for your website. You can use anchor text or naked links in your replies for link building.
  6. Quora Answers: Quora is a popular question and Answers website. After Yahoo Answers! Which is no longer in use, the Quora has dominated the QAs space. Quora is a great source of relevant referral traffic for any website. Quora allow link building for users. When you spam it with link building, it will start moderating your answers. Website traffic plays a vital role in boosting the reputation and therefore the ranking of a website in SERPs. So, using Quora for link building is one of the most prominent SEO link building techniques.
  7. Internal Linking: Although Internal Linking is not a direct link building strategy, but it has a significant role in boosting the overall ranking of a website in search engines. An Internal link is a link that goes from one page of a website to different pages of the same website. Internal links improve the site structure and help users to navigate to other useful pages of a website. An example of Internal link is in this post where I have provided Internal links from this post to other posts of this blog.

What is the Difference Between PBN and Guest Blogging?

There are not very much of the articles on the web that exactly explains the difference between a Private Blog Network and a Guest Blog. Before we understand the difference between these closely related SEO backlinking techniques, we need to know a little bit about what these individual techniques means.

What is a Private Blog Network (PBN)?

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a network of authoritative websites used to build links to your money website(s) for the purpose of ranking higher in the Google search engine. A money website is the website you intend on ranking i.e. the one that actually makes money. This can also refer to a clients website.

Private Blog Network (PBN) Structure

What is a Guest Blog?

The term Guest Blogging or Posting is used to describe an article from a third party author on a blog or a website. In many cases it is a one-time or sporadic cooperation.
Guest Blog Structure

Understanding the Difference between Guest Blog and PBN

  • A guest blog or guest blogging website is usually created to provide informative content to readers with a very little focus on building backlinks for other websites where as a PBN is created merely to get some link authority (backlinks) to "Money Website" (It can be your own website or client's business website).
  • Guest blogging websites are usually well-structured having proper categorisation of content where as most PBN follow very basic website structure having 2-3 tabs wiz. Home, About Us, Contact Us etc.
Guest Blog Example

Guest Blog Example

PBN Website

PBN Example

    • A Guest Blog allow third party blogger to contribute useful content to their website. This can be paid or unpaid where as a PBN usually not allow 3rd party content post on their website.
    • A PBN is primarily made for backlinks purpose where as a Guest Blog may or may not offer backlink to the contributor's website.
    • A guest blog has high quality useful content which is added only after proper moderation of content by guest blogging website editor or Admin. But in case of a PBN, the content quality may or may not be that much high.
    • Promotional content is prohibited here and you have to follow the content guidelines of guest blog for getting your content published to that website. For PBN network, which is made my a person/SEO professional the content is usually promotional and doesn't have such kind of content guidelines as in case of a guest blog.
    • The choice is domain name is also an important point of difference in a guest blog and PBN. The PBN domain names are usually less generic and doesn't define the category of blogging well. For example: A PBN focusing on "Racing Car" will usually not have a domain having car and racing like words in the domain. It will some cost effective domain bought at low price. It can like acbranger.com , krismaticThings. com  etc.But in case of a guest blog, the root domain will exactly define the category of the guest blogging website. For example, a SEO related guest blogging website will have URL like this seo-hacker .com
    • A Guest Blogging website usually have one button/page for asking global writers to write for them or do guest blogging on their blogging website. "Contribute, Write for Us, Guest Post, Write a Guest Post, Make a Post" are some usual phares used for this. A PNB doesn't have such kind of pages.
I think, it is now very much clear to you the major difference between a Guest Blogging website and A PBN network.

Feel free to share your suggestions for improving the post.

    • Technology
    • Devices/Platform/OS Used

But if you want to track some specific kind of user interaction with your website then you need to Setup Event Tracking in Google Analytics for on your website. In this post you will get to learn how you can setup Event Tracking and Goals in Google Analytics.

    GA Event Tracking

We will be focusing on Click Event Tracking in this blog post and will learn about other kinds of user interaction tracking in the our next post.

In order to tracking a click event for your website, you need to first have Google Analytics tracking code on your website. Most websites are used older version of Google Analytics tracking code i.e. analytics.js and not the most recent version of Google tracking code i.e. Universal Tracking Code (gtag.js). So, we will discussing how you can implement Google Event tracking for code kind of tracking of code.

Before making event tracking code for Click Events, we need to do Goal setup in the Google Analytics. So, here are the steps for implementation of the same.
    • Login in to Google Analytics (Visit www.google.com/analytics).
    • Then traverse to "Admin" panel and click on "Goals".
    • Now click on "New Goal" button.
    • Under "Goal Setup", select "Custom" and click on "Continue".
    • In "Goal Description", give a name to your Goal and select "Event" for "Type" field before clicking "Continue".
    • Under "Goal Details" section, provide values for Category, Action, Label and Value fields. Category and Action fields are compulsory where as Label and Value fields are optional.
For Example, you want to track a click event for a link in the popup appearing on a website. You can use following values for that:
    Category: Popup Link
    Action: click
    Label: Click Tracking
    Event: Leave it Blank
    • Once you have populated the fields, simply click on "Save" and your are done with goal creation in Google Analytics.
Now, let us first discuss how you can implement Click Event Tracking for analytics.js which uses "ga() function".

The analytics.js uses ga() function in Google Tracking code. We need to call ga() function from "onClick" function for tracking all click events. The basic code for onClick function to track click events is:

onClick="ga(‘send’, ‘event’, ‘eventCategory’: 'Popup Link', ‘eventAction’: 'click', ‘eventLabel’: 'Click Tracking');"

    or

onClick="ga('send', 'event', 'Popup Link', 'click', 'Click Tracking');"

Now you can out this code in href link code for a link "www.abc.com" as shown below:

    <a href="https://www.abc.com" onClick="ga('send', 'event', 'Popup Link', 'click', 'Click Tracking');">www.abc.com</a

Now, if your website is using Universal tracking code that has gtag() function in it then you should use following code:

    onClick="gtag('event', 'click', {'event_category': 'Popup Link', 'event_label': 'Click Tracking'});"

This code can be implemented for the popup link as shown below:

    <a href="https://www.abc.com" onClick="gtag('event', 'click', {'event_category': 'Popup Link', 'event_label': 'Click Tracking'});">www.abc.com</a>

After implementing the code, you can check if the code is working by visiting the "Real-Time" section of the Google Analytics. Go to "Conversions" tab and once you click on "www.abc.com" link in the popup, an activity will vbe recorded under conversions tab.

Later you can check history of all click events in Overview under "Conversions" section of Google Analytics.

If you have any problem in implementing the same, please leave a comment so that I can help you in successful implementation of the same.
